Young Men's Service League is a non-profit organization that initiates and encourages young men and their mothers to pursue philanthropic involvement in their community and provides an opportunity to enhance mother/son relationships. Young Men’s Service League, Inc has a National Board of Directors which governs and promotes the expansion of YMSL Chapters throughout the United States to allow young men and their mothers to assist, serve, and support those who are in need in their communities. YMSL members have served over 100,000 community service hours since the organization was formed in 2001. The Alamo chapter was formed in 2010 and graduated its first class of young men in May 2014. We currently have 190 members and serve such philanthropies as Habitat for Humanity, Haven for Hope, Ronald McDonald House, Headwaters Coalition, Good Samaritan Center, August Heart, San Antonio Humane Society, Mission Road, Snak Pak 4 Kids and the Warrior and Family Support Center, among others. During the past year, our members have performed over 3,200 hours of community service and donated over 700 items to philanthropies in the San Antonio area. Members of the Alamo Chapter of the Young Men's Service League are mothers and their high school sons who participate in a comprehensive four-year program dedicated to service, learning, and leadership. Time passes quickly during the four important transitional years of high school. Our sons go from being boys to men right before our eyes. During this time, YMSL provides opportunities spend to quality time together serving side by side. Our sons will not only learn about other’s needs, but they will also learn about their own character and gain a new respect for the mother/son relationship.
